Tech Tips:

Amana is pleased to announce software update 3.2.21
for the Amana® brand smart thermostat. This Over-The-Air (OTA) update will be pushed to all Wi-Fi connected Amana brand smart thermostats. The Amana home app will also be updated to support these new features at the same time.

The OTA update will add the following features and functions:

1. Dual fuel lockout changes for comfort vs. efficiency
Dual fuel unitary systems have had a comfort feature that allowed the gas furnace to take over from heat pump heat, regardless of the balance point setting, if the heat pump was unable to meet the heating demand. While desirable from a comfort standpoint, this feature did not consider energy efficiency. With this software release, the dealer or homeowner will have a choice to optimize heating options for either comfort or efficiency on Amana brand smart thermostats.
When choosing comfort, the system will perform as described above. Although when choosing efficiency, the furnace will be locked out, without exception, when the ambient temperature is above the balance point setting. Note: the balance point setting will remain a dealer-only access setting.

2. Quiet Mode access change
"Quiet Mode" settings will remain in the dealer set up menu for Amana brand smart thermostats, but installation technicians will now have the option to remove this option from the homeowner menu if desired or required. This will prevent the homeowner from turning off "Quiet Mode," as required by some local codes.
"Restart thermostat" added to Wi-Fi screen.
When the thermostat is connected to the internet, but not connected to the Amana Cloud, a thermostat restart will nearly always resolve the issue. The option to "restart thermostat" has now been added to the Wi-Fi screen for the consumers' convenience.

Other general bug fixes and improvements have also been made.

About Holmes Plumbing & Heating Supply:
Founded in 1968, Holmes Supply is one of south-central Nebraska's premier plumbing and heating wholesale distributors. Its territory covers south to the Kansas border and north to the South Dakota border. With two outside sales personnel, three delivery trucks and 15 employees, the company has managed to survive and thrive through economic ups and downs. This is due, in part, to its strong ties to the community and being a great industry partner.
Holmes Supply was formed by the vision of Grant Holmes, Donald Graham, Joyce Anderson, Gene Murray, Gerald McElhanney, and Jim Bamford, who saw the need for a wholesale supplier in central Nebraska. With Kearney being on 1-80, it was a prime location, and they knew they could make it work. They joined together as shareholders and named the company after Holmes, its first general manager, who they admired for his kindness, conviction, vision, and drive.

Over the years as shareholders either retired or wanted to sell their stock, Graham purchased shares as they became available. In the 1990s, he acquired the remaining shares, making the Graham family sole owners of Holmes Plumbing and Heating Supply Co.
Holmes Supply’s Success over the last 55 years is attributable to the tremendous dedication and loyalty of our employees to deliver superb customer service, great customers, and partnership with our vendors.
